Walk The Line

Getting to my territory is pretty simple, especially if you’re starting from Cohen. Attached below is a map if you are that directionally challenged you cant figure out how to get down the block and also I will give simple step by step directions.

o Leave Cohen through the main entrance turn right down the stairs and walk toward North main Street.

0 Turn left and walk straight staying on that same side of the sidewalk going in the direction of Alfred State.

0 On your left should be a Post office and a few feet in front of you should be an intersection. You should see a sign that says Alfred S.U.N.Y. on your left.

0 At the intersection turn left and walk until you see a pristine gazebo.

0 You have now reached my territory, treat it with the utmost respect.

There are plenty special things about my territory. Trying to find fifty might be a bit of a challenge, but I’ll give it a shot.

-This gazebo has a perfect view of both Alfred university and Alfred State university which is pretty cool. I can also see 360 degrees around because it ha s a circular seating arrangement. There’s a cool patch of flowers next to the Alfred State sign, though i doubt they’re going to last long with the weather changing so rapidly. The handrails is very intricate, it almost looks hand carved though I doubt it, not much is handmade these days. Its a chilly day (surprise) and the wind is blocked by the wood and its translating as only a slight breeze which is good.

Foundation Explorations

Exploration #1

The purpose of this first exploration is to appreciate your surroundings in a way not usually done before. This will be especially interesting for me since I am in my dorm room and I am attempting to find something I haven’t seen or appreciated yet.

1. The first thing I noticed when I took a quick look at my room was the window that takes up the majority of the space on the wall adjacent to the closet. There usually arent any people walking by because the window is facing the reaor of the building where the cars are parked, however there is an interesting view of the miniforest of Alfred.

2. There is a cool little light on the side of the mirror that kind of makes me feel like a pop icon changing in a fancy backstage dressing room before a sold out concert when I use it, although that couldn’t be farther from the truth.

3. Since it is a sort of windy day and my window is open the smell of trees is in the air, which is good because my room used to smell really bad due to a bottle of really really old milk that was hidden beneath my roommate’s bed, among other causes.

4. The walls and ceiling are completely boring looking, with the simplest of an off white base coat that leaves nothing to the imagination, yet the walls feel strangely smooth despite how rough they look.

5. I’ve come to learn that the person living a few doors down is into very loudly played music. I’ve learned to block it out mentally now and it barely bothers me now.

6. My roommate who isn’t more than two feet away from me at the moment is into metalesque, not quite death metal or goth music and likes to play that on guitar as practice. He is playing over a back track with his acoustic guitar and playing by ear what he is hearing.

7. In my headphones I am listening to Erik Satie who is a composer from France whose music was prominent in the late 1800s. He is in every sense of the word an inspiration to work I’ve done in the past. His music doesn’t try to make you feel a certain way, it evokes emotion in you when you aren’t feeling an emotion, if that makes sense.

8. I’m getting a little desperate for things to notice in my room so I looked down at the floor which is a strange light brown. It sort of compliments the rustic look o the room which is full of so many wooden ornaments.

9. I just noticed my room has like thirty cups/bottles in it for some reason. Only two of which aren’t empty.

10. My electrical wires are right next to my pillow. Unsafe? Maybe just a little.

Exploration #18

This exploration is all about seeing architectural novelties people take for granted. On my way to class I jotted down some of them I’ve seen everyday and thouht nothing about how they were made and how long it took to make them..until now.

-Pillars not only look cool, are often times used as a oundation for upper levels on buildings like cantelevers.

-Hand railing, intricate and helpful

-Light fixures

-Window Panes

-Tiles/ floorboards

-Grouting

Exploration #15

Write down everything you’ve had to eat today. Today was a slow day for my overactive metabolism, but still plenty for the average human.

-turkey/bacon wrap

-two slices of peppeoni pizza

- beef pot pie

-4 glases of water

-pear slices

breaded chicken

-pasta with tomato sauce

-4 corndogs

-pasta with fettucni and provologne stuffed meatballs ( Applebees)
